Noyo Forestry offers full-spectrum tree care services for both residential and commercial clients throughout Mendocino County. We perform all pruning according to ANSI A300 standards, ensuring tree health, structural balance, and safe clearances for buildings, driveways, and utilities. Services include:

• Deadwooding, crown thinning, and structural pruning
• Canopy lifting for vertical clearance over roads and structures
• Limb removal for driveways, Starlink access, and fire safety

Depending on the job and tree condition, we utilize both spur climbing for removals and SRT (Single Rope Technique)—a modern, low-impact climbing method ideal for pruning and preservation work without damaging the tree trunk. In addition to rope access, we operate a 90-foot CMC tracked aerial lift, which reaches areas inaccessible to traditional bucket trucks, including narrow gates and backyard settings without vehicle access.

We specialize in the safe removal of hazardous or structurally compromised trees—especially those located near homes, fences, driveways, or utilities. Using a combination of climbing, rigging, aerial lift access, and felling techniques, our team dismantles trees in sections or removes them whole depending on the risk profile and site access.

Whether you’re removing a dead fir over a structure, a wind-thrown oak hung up in a canopy, or clearing trees for construction, our crews are equipped to manage liability and protect surrounding property. 

Severe weather can bring down trees, block driveways, damage structures, and create hazardous conditions that require immediate action. Noyo Forestry provides emergency storm response services for both residential and commercial properties, restoring access and removing dangerous debris.

Our team is equipped with climbers, aerial lifts, and CAT 309C excavators with grapples or grapplesaws to safely dismantle and remove fallen or storm-damaged trees. We also offer on-site chipping, allowing us to process and broadcast debris directly into the landscape or haul it away, depending on site needs.

In storm emergencies, we act quickly to:

We offer comprehensive wood chipping services to handle material generated from trimming, removals, or site cleanup. Chips can be:

• Broadcast on-site along driveways, fillslopes, or cleared areas
• Hauled off for disposal
• Left for use as mulch piled for use around trees, trails, or garden beds

Our Bandit 20XP tracked chipper, when paired with an excavator, allows us to efficiently process whole trees, heavy limbs, and logs up to 22 inches in diameter. For larger logs, we use a log screw attachment on our excavator to split material into manageable pieces before chipping. For jobs with pre-cut brush or wood, we also offer standalone chipping services.

Chip material can be broadcast on-site or hauled away using our 17-yard chip truck. For smaller-scale projects or tighter access areas, we operate a Morbark 1215 12" chipper, ideal for brush and limbs that don’t require heavy processing.

We provide targeted removal of dense brush and invasive species such as Scotch broom, huckleberry, blackberry, poison oak, and other encroaching vegetation. This work is often critical for creating defensible space, improving property access, and supporting broader fire mitigation efforts.

Depending on the terrain and vegetation type, we use a combination of hand cutting, mastication, and chipping to clear overgrowth and reduce fuel loads. Material can be broadcast on-site or hauled away. In larger areas, brush can be piled for controlled burning at a later time to reduce costs. Our CAT 299D3 compact track loader equipped with a masticator head with a 70” working width makes quick work for vegetation and smaller trees.

We help property owners meet CAL FIRE fire safety standards by reducing vegetation and improving defensibility around homes and structures.

• Under PRC 4291, we create and maintain 100 feet of defensible space through trimming, tree removal, and brush reduction
• Under PRC 4290, we help ensure access roads meet fire clearance standards, including 13’6” vertical and 14’ horizontal clearance for emergency vehicles

We use a combination of manual pruning, mastication, and chipping to bring properties into compliance while improving fire resilience and access for emergency response.

We offer stump grinding to remove the stump below grade to prevent regeneration. This allows for replanting, paving, or fire-safe fuel break maintenance.
