Noyo Forestry was awarded this contract by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). The work includes brushing 30 miles of road in the Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF).
Established in 1949, the Jackson Demonstration State Forest is California’s largest state-owned forest, which serves as a working forest dedicated to research, sustainable timber management, recreation, and conservation. This two year contract focuses on improving access, enhancing safety, and supporting long-term forest management.
Our Caterpillar 309 excavators equipped with masticators will be performing the work in accordance with CAL FIRE’s guidelines and requirements; which includes maintenance of a 12-foot-wide by 12-foot-high road prism and the clearing of vegetation within 10 feet of the road edge. Additionally, all vegetation will be processed in accordance with requirements for cut height, debris distribution, and protection of infrastructure.
We enjoy contributing to the maintenance of our local state-owned forestlands and support CAL FIRE’s efforts to ensure safe access within Jackson Demonstration State Forest. As a local contractor, we take pride in helping to maintain and manage this important public resource.
